More Info - What to Expect

What to bring to your first class
Please wear comfortable clothing.

Please wear flat shoes, plimsolls or trainers are ideal, or you may prefer to work in bare feet, it is entirely up to you!

If you are joining me at the Elephant Rooms venue in Draycott the studio has a “no outdoors shoes” policy, so please bring some indoor-only shoes or work in bare feet.

Bring a drink of water in case you feel warm from doing exercise, especially if it’s a hot day!

Please bring a filled-in copy of the Consent form and Health/Medical emergency details if you have not already emailed me back a copy. It’s really important I know of any medical conditions or injuries so I can adjust any of the exercises to best support you.

Most people prefer to pay by contactless or PIN card or in cash, but if you would prefer to pay via bank transfer, please let me know in advance.

What to expect from your first class
My classes are friendly and informal, and I encourage people to ask questions and learn together. I would love for you all to enjoy Tai Chi and Health Qigong® to benefit both physically and mentally, but most of all I simply want us to have fun together!

The class usually starts with me introducing what I have planned for that class, followed by a gentle ten-minute warm up routine to calm the breath, body and mind in preparations for our Tai Chi and Health Qigong® practice.

Then I demonstrate one of the moves that we’ll learn together for that class. I’ll take you step-by-step through the move, sometimes focussing on the lower and upper body separately before integrating the whole move, including the breathing aspects.

For “Purely Qigong” classes I’ll also highlight which organs of the body the particular move is benefiting, for “Simply Tai Chi” classes I explain the martial applications.

If you join me for a “Tai Chi & Qigong” class, the learning part of the class is based on tai chi basics and steps from the Yang-style form, and the latter part of the class allows us to flow through a Qigong routine.

Finally, we end with a five-minute warm down routine to release any muscles we have particularly worked during the class, and to reinvigorate you for the day and week ahead!

I look forward to seeing you, and please don't hesitate to ask me any questions!
